Clementine
Baby Tracker

Privacy Policy

Effective date: June 1, 2026

Clementine is a baby tracker for two parents sharing one newborn. We built it with a simple promise: your family's data is yours, and we never see it. This policy explains, in plain language, what data the app handles, where it lives, and the choices you have.

Canonical version: https://www.saadat.online/clementine/privacy

The short version

  • All of your data is stored on your device and in your own personal iCloud account.
  • The developer of Clementine has no access to your data. We cannot read it, and it never reaches our servers — because we don't run any.
  • There are no third-party SDKs, no analytics, no advertising, and no tracking of any kind.
  • We do not sell, rent, or share your data with anyone.
  • Your baby's health information (feeds, sleep, growth, medicine, vaccinations, temperature, jaundice) is treated as sensitive and stays in iCloud only.

Who we are

Clementine is an independent iOS app developed by Saadat Islam.

If you have any questions about this policy or your data, email saadatorama@gmail.com.

What data the app handles

Clementine lets you log information about your baby and your caregiving, including:

  • Feeding — breastfeeding (per side, duration), bottle (amount, content type), pumping
  • Diapers — wet/dirty/mixed, optional color and consistency
  • Sleep — start/stop times, durations
  • Growth — weight, height, head circumference, and calculated percentiles
  • Health & care — medicine doses and reminders, umbilical cord observations, jaundice observations, temperature readings, vaccinations, doctor visits
  • Development — milestones, mood/crying, tummy time
  • Baby profile — name and date of birth you enter
  • Caregiver attribution — which of the two parents logged an event, so you can coordinate

Some of this is sensitive health-related information about your baby. Clementine handles it accordingly: it is kept in your private iCloud and is never used for advertising, analytics, profiling, or any purpose other than showing it back to you and your partner.

We do not collect your name, email, phone number, contacts, photos, precise location, advertising identifiers, or device identifiers for tracking. The app has no account system and no login of its own.

Where your data lives

Clementine uses Apple's frameworks to store data in two places, both controlled by you:

  1. On your device — using Core Data, so the app works instantly and offline.
  2. In your personal iCloud — using Apple's CloudKit. Your data is held in your own iCloud private database and is governed by Apple's iCloud terms and Apple's security. The developer cannot access your iCloud.

Because there is no Clementine server, nothing is ever transmitted to the developer or to any third party. Sync happens directly between your devices through your iCloud account.

How two-parent sharing works

Clementine is designed for exactly two parents sharing one baby.

  • The owning parent creates the baby profile and can invite a partner by generating a secure share link (a CloudKit "CKShare"). The link is sent however you choose — for example via Messages or AirDrop.
  • The invited parent accepts the share using their own Apple ID. No shared password or shared account is involved; each parent signs in with their own Apple ID.
  • Once accepted, both parents have full read/write access to the baby's data, and changes sync between them through iCloud.
  • Either parent can stop sharing at any time (the owner can remove the partner; the partner can leave the share). Ending a share removes the other person's access to the shared data going forward. Data already synced to a device may remain on that device until removed, consistent with how Apple's sharing works.

The share is between the two of you via Apple's CloudKit sharing. The developer is not a party to it and cannot see the shared content.

Third parties, analytics, and tracking

  • No third-party SDKs. Clementine has zero external dependencies and uses only Apple-native frameworks.
  • No analytics or crash-tracking services. We do not embed Google Analytics, Firebase, Facebook SDK, or any similar tool.
  • No advertising. There are no ads and no ad networks.
  • No tracking. We do not track you across apps or websites, and we do not build profiles about you.

The only "third party" involved is Apple, solely as the provider of iCloud/CloudKit storage and sync for your own account. Apple's handling of iCloud data is covered by Apple's Privacy Policy.

In-app purchase

Clementine offers one optional, one-time purchase: SmartNap ($4.99), which adds predictive nap-timing based on your baby's own sleep patterns. SmartNap's predictions are computed on your device from data you already logged.

Purchases are processed by Apple through the App Store using StoreKit. Clementine does not see or store your payment information. Apple's handling of purchases is covered by Apple's terms and privacy policy.

How to delete your data

You are always in control:

  • Delete individual entries — tap any event in the app and delete it.
  • Delete the baby profile / reset — removing the profile removes its associated data from the app.
  • Delete the app — removing Clementine from your device removes its on-device data.
  • Manage or remove iCloud data — you can manage Clementine's iCloud storage from Settings → [your name] → iCloud on your device, and you can delete iCloud data there.
  • End sharing — see "How two-parent sharing works" above.

Because the developer has no copy of your data, there is nothing for us to delete on our end and no request needed — deletion is entirely in your hands.

Children's privacy

Clementine is a tool for parents to track their newborn's care. It is not directed to children and is not intended to be used by children. The information stored is entered by parents about their baby. We do not knowingly collect data directly from children, and the app has no social, messaging, or content-sharing features directed at minors.

Medical disclaimer

Clementine is a tracker, not a medical device. It does not diagnose, treat, or provide medical advice. Reassurance and reference information in the app are general and informational. Always consult your pediatrician for medical questions or concerns about your baby.

Security

Your data benefits from device-level protection (such as your passcode/Face ID/Touch ID) and Apple's iCloud security. Keeping your device and Apple ID secure (for example, with a strong passcode and two-factor authentication) is the best way to protect your data.

Changes to this policy

If we update this policy, we will revise the Effective date above and post the current version at https://www.saadat.online/clementine/privacy. Material changes will be reflected there.
